After taking to the pitch once again in last weekend’s Legends match, the Gers boss said his players are privileged to be playing in front of the fans.
When asked at this afternoon’s pre-match press conference about the impact of supporters, van Bronckhorst said: “They are very important, I told the players I played the Legends match on Saturday and to be on the pitch with all the people in the stands took me back to my playing days.
“I think my players are privileged to be playing at Ibrox with such support and all the fans that are there. They will definitely be the 12th man on Sunday, they will be pushing us forward, helping us and screaming us to a good result.”
With the group back together after international duty, van Bronckhorst says the experienced players will have a key role to play heading into this Old Firm derby.
He continued: “Your leadership group and players who have played in this game before recognise what is needed in these games to win games and that is very important.
“We have to make sure we have the level we want and need to win an Old Firm game and we will do everything to win this game.
“We didn't play well back in February but I think one thing we have learned after that is that the team are much more controlled and much more confident with the ball and that is what we need on Sunday. We have shown we are strong at home and I am confident we will have a good performance on Sunday.”
