Gio: Very Positive Performance

GIOVANNI van Bronckhorst praised his Rangers squad’s performance this afternoon after an impressive 4-0 victory against St Mirren.

The Gers boss emphasised the squad’s clear intent to collect an important three points in the league campaign but expressed his delight to score a variation of goals.

Speaking exclusively to RangersTV following his side’s impressive victory, he said: "It was a very good performance today, we wanted to win the game and we did that quite well and dominant.

"We scored some great goals and could’ve scored more goals but the intention we had today was very positive in terms of going forward and trying to create as many chances as we could. That’s very positive for me from today’s game.

"It’s important for us to score goals, your attackers are the closest to the goals. You could see the reaction from Antonio [Colak] in the first goal when the ball hit the post, he was very sharp, and we scored it.

"We were threatening throughout the game with attackers and midfield runs, in the second half we scored two excellent goals as well.”

The Dutchman recognised the threat Stephen Robinson’s squad would carry into the match but outlined how pivotal the early goal was in setting the tone for the remainder of the game.

He added: "I think the way that we started today was really good, we tried to score as quickly as possible and that was very important.

"We knew that they [St Mirren] had a good start to the season, but we had one priority today and that was the three points, that came with four goals and a clean sheet – it was really good.

"We switch back to Champions League [next week], it’s a great game for us at home against Liverpool we have to switch from domestic league to Europe."
