Rangers travel to Portugal for the first-leg at Estadio Municipal de Braga tomorrow evening, before the return tie at Ibrox next Thursday.
The Gers boss feels it is a ‘big opportunity’ for his side to continue their European journey, but knows they face a difficult two matches against the Portuguese side.
Speaking to the media at this morning’s pre-match press conference, van Bronckhorst said: “It is not often you play a quarter-final in Europe and you have the chance to reach the semi-finals.
“We have to work hard and get the performance in tomorrow and also next week to overcome Braga because they are a very good team. Their team spirit is very good, they are very quick and can punish you in transition moments.
“Braga are a team who are difficult to overcome so we have a big challenge ahead of us but we relish the chance to go into the semi-finals.”
With an impressive European record this season and in recent years, van Bronckhorst hopes Rangers can deliver another ‘complete performance’ in this tie.
He continued: “In the last few years the team has performed really well in Europe and have been involved after the winter break which is very good.
“You need tactical awareness, physical awareness, your way of playing in attack and defending - you have to be complete to get a good result. We have managed to do that so far and now we have an opportunity to do that again.”
