Gio: We're Getting Stronger Each Week

GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST insists that Rangers are ‘getting stronger each week’ as they prepare to face St Johnstone at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.

The Gers boss has outlined the squad’s preparations ahead of their next league match tomorrow afternoon as they host Callum Davidson’s side in front of the Rangers support.

Speaking exclusively to RangersTV ahead of their upcoming home fixture, he said: “We’re doing well, we have a lot of players back now and have a big squad to choose our starting eleven.

"After our last training session, we’ll see who will start and the best game plan that we need to play St Johnstone at home.

“It’s a home game, we had a game last week where we faced a team [Kilmarnock] who defend in a low block with not many spaces for us to play in.

"I think we approached the game very well with a lot of patience. For us, it’s another league game, we want to win every game that we play and maintain a 100% record.

“We have to have our positions right on the pitch, the movement needs to be there and the passing needs to be high otherwise you won’t find the right space.

"We’re improving in those departments every game because we’re playing more together, and the players are getting used to one another. We’re getting stronger and stronger each week.”

The club appointed Ceri Bowley from City Football Group as a new first-team coach this week, and van Bronckhorst emphasised the key attributes that he will bring to the club as they continue to strive for development. He added: “I worked with Ceri a couple of years ago and built a good relationship with him, I’m happy that he is joining my staff and helping us to improve our players.

"The players will work closely with him to make sure that the development goes faster, and we can identify all the areas we want to see improvement – I’m really happy that he’s joined us.

“We came in with quite a few members of staff when we joined in November, Ceri joins us at this moment, but we are still one team and working hard in this department to get the best results on the pitch.

"We just have to work together, it’s the key to having good communication. The goal that we all have is to bring success to the club.”
