The midfielder, who joined the Gers in January, became a mainstay in Steven Gerrard’s midfield after impressing in his first five months when his initial goal was just to try and break into the starting XI.
Kamara was afforded an extra week off after international duty with Finland, meaning he joined up with the Light Blues as they flew out to Portugal for their summer camp.
Speaking to RangersTV he said: “I guess I probably did better last season when I joined than predicted.
“I needed a chance to show what I could do and luckily I got the opportunity here so I want to show more now.
“Summer has been good for me; I had two international games and some chill time. I am happy to be back with Rangers now and getting ready for the new season.
“The intensity here is a different than I had been used to the last couple of years so it will definitely help me throughout the season.”
Kamara picked up rave reviews for his displays for Finland against Bosnia & Herzegovina and then Liechtenstein in Euro 2020 qualifiers at the start of June.
He admits with a smile that his profile has increased back home since his move to Rangers but it’s his performances that have really caught the eye in his homeland.
He continued: “I had two important wins with Finland and I guess I did alright! I think I played well away on international duty and importantly we got the wins.
“It always helps going into those games if you are playing well for your club and it was against tough teams like Bosnia so we had to do well and we were delighted to win.
“I wouldn’t say I am the star now but I am more of a starter than I was before because I am playing every week.”
