The central defender joined Rangers in the summer of 2018 as one of the first signings made by then-new manager Steven Gerrard.
Since then, he has been a near ever-present for the club at the back, and has played a huge part in Gers’ incredible defensive record this season. He was asked at this morning’s press conference about a meeting he had with Gerrard prior to joining, and if winning 55 was part of the vision sold to him then.
Goldson explained: "It was part of the vision. Did I think it would be three years later? Probably not. But as I have said before, I didn't know how - and I would probably go as far as saying - how far behind Rangers were at the time.
"I didn't realise that until I actually came up here and played that first season, and then you do have doubts.
"But at the same time, we have worked our socks off. Recruitment has been brilliant - you look at the club I am in today and it is 100-times better than the club that I joined.
"That's not just the playing squad - it is around the place, it is what has been done in the canteen, in the training ground, at Ibrox - the whole place has improved and that is credit to every single staff member that works here - from the board and the Chairman and what they have put in to make this club successful and it has paid off.
"It’s amazing and I still don't think it has sunk in properly what we have actually achieved and it is a weird one - whenever I have won things in the past, you have been going on holiday - going away straight away with your team or with your family.
"We are only in March and there is a lot of the season still to play so it is a weird one as the focus is straight back on football and straight back on a huge tie that we have ahead of us.
"But at the same time, I still have goosebumps now thinking about it - it was amazing and probably the best day of my career."
Goldson and his teammates headed for Prague earlier this afternoon ahead of tomorrow’s Last 16 Europa League, first-leg tie with Slavia Prague. Goldson knows Gers are in for a tough test against a side who defeated Premier League Leicester City in the last round – but he is determined Gers relish their ‘champions’ tag and push onwards now to even greater successes.
"I expect very tough games and for them to be very intense,” Goldson continued. “We have watched a lot of their game against Leicester and their previous games in the Europa League, and they look like a very strong side. "They have a lot of powerful players and a lot of powerful running, a lot of intensity up and down the pitch and we are going to have to be ready for that.
"We know they beat Leicester and we know the form they are in domestically in their league, so I am sure it will be a very tough game.
"We had a meeting yesterday about the pressure that comes now with being champions - it is completely different to being chasing and being the underdog and finishing second for the last however many years.
"Now we need to go on and prove we are worthy of being champions. That starts this week."
