IANIS HAGI is thriving off the competition in the Rangers squad as he continues to look for ways to improve his own game.
The 22-year-old says he loves the challenge of always trying to get better and works with the analysis team on a regular basis to review games and training.
Speaking to the media at a press conference ahead of Hamilton on Sunday, Hagi said: “I think at a club like Rangers there's always competition so you have got to be consistent, you have got to prove every single game and that is why I am here.
“I always try to challenge myself and always try to get better because I know there's always someone waiting to play in the first eleven.
“I have always dreamed of having competition and to push myself. I am really happy and I’m trying to finish the season even stronger and get better on every aspect.
“I analysed the games back in Romania but not as detailed and having my father as a gaffer we always had discussions and meetings about how I could improve my individual game.
“Obviously all the small details that we have here with the analysts and showing every single video helps a lot and I think it is a really big plus for us as a team and I am trying to use it because it is really helpful.”
With 21 clean sheets as a team this season, Hagi feels he has improved his own defensive game since joining the club.
He continued: “I feel like I have grown a lot defensively. I think my defensive positions and my understanding has improved since I came here.
“In modern football everybody has to defend and everybody has to attack. I think you need to play really good as a team and then obviously individuals will make the difference because of their quality - teamwork makes the dreamwork.”
Going forward this season, Hagi hopes Rangers can maintain consistency as they head for a busy schedule of league games and European competition.
He added: “If you look at the history, Rangers is a team that always has to be consistent, so to be successful you have got to be consistent, that is what we are working for.
“Having European nights again will be really challenging but as you have seen in the last couple of years we have done really well in Europe and we are still trying to go strong in that competition as well and try to be consistent everywhere.”
