Hagi Trying To Improve In Every Aspect

IANIS Hagi says he has been trying to ‘improve in every aspect’ as he continues his recovery from an ACL injury.

The Romanian has been going through a gruelling rehab process since January after suffering the injury in the Scottish Cup tie against Stirling Albion.

Ten months on, the 24-year-old believes he has taken the positives from the situation and used the time to grow as a person. Now back on the grass at Rangers Training Centre, Hagi has his sights set on a return to action.

Speaking exclusively to RangersTV this week, he said: “I think it opened different doors, I like coaching so even though I am young I am always keen. Growing up beside my father and him being a coach I always looked differently at games. I have been trying to look at games in different angles and not just individually on what I must do but understand the team game too.

“I have been trying to learn another language, so I am better with my Spanish now and I’ve been trying to develop myself as a person. I knew I had a lot of time away from the pitch and I knew I had to grow in these nine months and I have been trying to improve myself in every aspect.”

With a number of big moments for the club domestically and in Europe over the past 10 months, Hagi believes it was important he stayed close to the club, the squad and the fans.

He continued: “It is so different to what you experience on the pitch, the emotions are definitely higher, twice as high as being on the pitch physically.

“I get why the fans always have high expectations of the club and of the team but it is nice to see that angle as well even though during the career of a football player you don't really want to have that much time as a fan, you want to be involved every single day.

“It was so important for me to be around the club, around the team and around these big moments. Experiencing the European nights last season was unbelievable and in Seville even though we didn't manage to win the final.

“It is a unique club and you always want to give joy to the fans and the amount of support they bring throughout the games is out of this world. You always hope that you do well for this club for the sake of the fans because what they give you day in day out, every week, every game it is on another level.”
