OLD FIRM hat-trick hero Katie Wilkinson says she was thrilled with yet another derby victory this season.
The Light Blues ran out comfortable 3-0 winners against their rivals at Hamilton in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League.
It is the fourth derby success of the campaign for Head Coach Leanne Crichton’s team in all competitions as they moved up to second.
Wilkinson nodded in the opener before a superb free-kick doubled the lead prior to half-time, with her late penalty sealing all three points.
She believes her second goal was one of her finest in a Rangers jersey and insists the squad deserved the win.
Speaking to RangersTV, she said: “The free-kick is up there for me in terms of my goals for Rangers.
“When we got the free-kick I knew I wanted to get over it. For me, I had to make sure I got it on target. There was a good bit of pace on the ball, so I was buzzing it went in.
“It’s a big three points for us first and foremost, away from home as well. I thought all over the pitch there were some massive performances and I am just glad to be able to help.
“The clean sheet is massive. Sometimes in these types of games, you don’t get the performance, but I thought we had it all.
“We managed the game, good performance, individually we managed our battles well, three goals, it is a massive win for us.
“We know what it means to all of the Rangers supporters. We want to win every game, but there is a bit of extra grit in these types of games.
“Between us we don’t want to let ourselves, the supporters, or the club down. We want to make sure we were on the right end of the result and we did that.”
Rangers now go into another international break before coming back with a top of the table clash against leaders Hearts.
A victory in that game will see the Light Blues move to the summit of the league, but Wilkinson insists they won’t be getting carried away.
She added: “We go into the international break now, but we are taking it game by game.
“We got the three points today, some girls go away now, and those that are here will work hard.
“We will prepare for the next game, that’s what we are thinking about and trying to get as many points as we can.”
