The Light Blues defeated Middlesbrough 6-0 in their first outing of the campaign with the forward helping herself to a hat-trick on her return to the pitch.
Speaking to RangersTV to look back on the friendly outing, she commented: “It was a positive performance all-round. A good test against good opposition.
“We started the game really well and everyone got a good amount of minutes in the legs so it was a really positive test today and it will lead us in good stead going into the rest of pre-season.
“I obviously want to be scoring goals, happy to do that and happy to contribute with three goals today.
“Getting into good habits and finding that sharpness, still a long way to go but feeling good.
The number nine scored inside 60 seconds in Cumbernauld before going on to claim the match ball, as she highlighted the side’s aim to start fixtures fast moving forward.
She continued: “It is something that we have spoken about across the last couple of seasons is scoring early and starting strong so I think we done that brilliantly today.
“Six goals across the full game and everyone getting a good amount of game time and minutes.
“A really positive performance and we have been able to put things that we have worked on in training into practice today.”
Having been back in training since July 8, Howat spoke of how the last few weeks have looked training alongside youngsters and new players in the squad. As the Gers now ready themselves to jet off to Northern Italy where they will face off against both Milan clubs in the coming week.
She added: “It has been really good; we have had all the young girls in training.
“Fallon has been in since day one of pre-season and Alice has just came in the last couple of days.
“It is good to get them minutes and give them the chance to play here in front of the fans. Give them the chance to embed themselves in with the team it has been really good.
“We are happy to get games back; it is always nice to play games.
“We know that the runs are part and parcel, a lot of tactical work and just building on what we have been doing the last couple of seasons and taking it into this new season.
“It is nice to have fresh goals and we are looking forward to the season ahead.
“Italy? It is a really good test for us again. They will be two really good sides, again probably a different game from what we have experienced today.
“Which is good going into the season, we know that across the course of the season we will be having to play different opposition so it is good to test ourselves against the best out there.
“Warm weather as well so different things we need to manage but we are all really looking forward to it, a good chance to spend a bit of time together as well as a team.”
