The Light Blues smashed five past the Dons to move within a point of the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership leaders.
Stewart’s goal, on his eighth appearance in a blue jersey but his first start in the league, was the second of the afternoon and he racked up the chances on a dominant day for his side, including hitting the post early in the second-half.
Speaking to RangersTV he smiled: “It was really pleasing that I got the nod at the start of the game.
“Just to get the opportunity to play was a great chance for me to show what I can do. I felt I did well but it was most important that we got the three points.
“I felt like I could have got two or three today, maybe four but I don’t want to be too greedy.
“It was Tav from the free-kick out wide and I just remember I got my head on it and glanced it to goal.
“I thought it was in but Joe (Lewis) has made a great save and then I just volleyed it in off the post, I was lucky it fell right to me and I couldn’t miss from there.
“It was a long time coming, I had thought about that for a while (celebrating) so I was just delighted to score.
Rangers have had a packed schedule of late and Stewart explained that Steven Gerrard had urged his players to make sure they were at it from the start after a faltering first-half at St Johnstone last weekend when coming off the back of another mid-week win.
He continued: “We spoke about that and wanted to try and come out of the blocks fast.
“Both teams had played a lot of games recently but we didn’t want any excuses. We scored five goals and should have scored more so we are delighted with that.
“We are feeling good, we are looking forward to every game and this game is done now, we will forget about that and just look forward to Thursday night. Hopefully we can bring some points home.”
