The 25-year-old midfielder said the investment in the women’s side and the ambition to reach Champions League football pushed her to make the move from Fluery in France.
Speaking to RangersTV after signing with the club, she said: “It’s really exciting, the facilities are incredible and the project that the coaches have spoken to us about.
“It is an incredible feeling to be here and to work towards our goals.
“I was playing in France in the top division but I wanted to play at a club that competes for Champions League and I think with the staff we have here and the environment just seeing it after one session that we can obtain our goals.
“I am really excited to see the level of play and after speaking to the coaches I know we are looking to play good football so I am excited for that.”
Sonia has already played in a number of countries over her career, as well as being part of the Venezuela national team.
She continued: “I left home when I was 17 to go to the states on scholarship and I played at two schools there for five years and then five days after graduating from the University of North Florida I went to Sweden for a couple of months but I had some visa issues.
“I went back home and got my European Citizenship to compete for Roma in Italy and then I played for Bari in Serie.A.
“It was an incredible feeling to get called to the national team there’s a whole change with that team and the organisation.
“The coach did a lot of work to find players that weren’t called in the past and that have a lot of talent so it was good to see the level of play so we are hoping to play in the next world cup.”
The Canadian-born player says she is excited to get started at Rangers and says there is already a positive atmosphere among the squad.
She explained: “I think it is very exciting to join at this time, you can see the support and investment into the women’s programme.
“Everyone here has been friendly and welcoming and incredible with little thing as well adjusting to my new home.
“I am very composed player, I have been told I have great vision, I’ve been told I’m physical, but if I had to compare myself to a style of play I admire it would be Andres Iniesta to give you an idea.
