McClure recently spent the second half of the campaign at loan at Kelty Hearts where he sampled the rough and tumble of League One football in Scotland.
“I grew up in Belfast and first got into football at the age of five,” McClure reflects all the way back.
“I actually got into football because my dad played football.
“It was just one day that a club called Crusaders came in for me and I went there.
It has been all about Rangers for the youngster since he before he can remember.
A boyhood fan, McClure says it was no brainer when the opportunity arose to join the Light Blues professionally in 2023.
“My first Rangers memory would have been coming over on the boat and watching Rangers against Celtic,” the teenager continued.
“I joined Rangers in the summer of 2023. I was very excited to join Rangers because they were my boyhood club.
“I was a little bit nervous coming over to Rangers which is a full-time Academy.
“But at the same time, I was excited to come over to my boyhood club. My family were very into it.
“I came over here on trial a few times and I just thought it was the right place from the people to the facilities.
“My first training session was on the astro and Stevie Smith took it.
“I don’t really remember what happened in the session, but I do remember getting a good feeling with the Rangers kit on and being with the boys.
“My first game for Rangers was against Carlisle and I was just wanting to get off to a good start.
“It was my first game on trial and I wanted to make a name for myself. Luckily, we got a penalty and I took it and scored.”
Growing up, McClure idolised a certain Steven Gerrard in a Liverpool kit, who would later take charge of the Light Blues.
Gerrard’s all-encompassing powers in midfield was a huge attraction for the youngster, who is keen viewer of other midfielders across the globe.
“I play as a central midfielder, and I feel that a key attribute that I need in my position is a range of passing, vision, and knowing when to take one or two touches,” he added.
“An aspect that I want to develop into my game is awareness and knowing how many touches I have to take until I’m being pressed.
“I actually played as a striker for a number of years and one of my coaches in Northern Ireland said to me that he saw me as a central midfielder.
“Ever since then it’s where I’ve played.
“I would like to play as a No.10 because it’s a role where managers will often give you a free role to drop into different areas.
“My role model in midfield growing up was Steven Gerrard. The passion that he showed towards Liverpool was something else, then he came here as Rangers manager.
“He was a passionate person and a great footballer as well.
“I feel that we’re a quite similar build and I try to look up and play like him because he’s doing very well at the minute.”
