Rangers Players Head For International Duty

A NUMBER of Rangers players are away on international duty this week. Here’s our preview of who is away, what matches they have coming up and when they are in action.

Jon McLaughlin & Nathan Patterson – Scotland

  • Friday 12 November - Moldova v Scotland - WC2022 Qualifier - 5pm

  • Monday 15 November - Scotland v Denmark - WC2022 Qualifier - 7.45pm

Jon McLaughlin and Nathan Patterson have both once again been named in Steve Clarke’s squad as Scotland continue their World Cup qualifying campaign.

It’s a huge week for Steve Clarke’s side as they look to secure a play-off spot in their final qualifying matches. Scotland currently sit second in Group F with five wins, two draws and just one defeat in the opening eight matches.

On Friday evening they travel to Moldova, before hosting group leaders Denmark at Hampden on Monday.

Borna Barisic – Croatia

  • Thursday November 11 - Malta v Croatia - WC2022 Qualifier -7.45pm

  • Sunday November 14 - Croatia v Russia - WC2022 Qualifier - 2pm

It’s a crucial international break for Borna Barisic and Croatia as they look to finish in top spot of Group H and secure World Cup qualification.

First-up they face a trip to Malta before a top of the table clash with Russia on Sunday afternoon.

Russia currently sit two points ahead of Croatia but a win could see Borna and his international teammates confirm their place in Qatar next year.

Glen Kamara – Finland

  • Saturday 13 November - Bosnia and Herzegovina v Finland - WC2022 Qualifier - 2pm

  • Tuesday 16 November - Finland v France - WC2022 Qualifier - 7.45pm

It’s all still to play for in Group C, as Glen Kamara and Finland look to pick-up some important points in their World Cup qualifying campaign.

Finland currently sit third in the group, just one point behind Ukraine with a game in hand.

They travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday afternoon, before hosting top of the group France on Tuesday evening.

Steven Davis – Northern Ireland

  • Friday 12 November - Northern Ireland v Lithuania - WC2022 Qualifier - 7.45pm

  • Monday 15 November - Northern Ireland v Italy - WC2022 Qualifier - 7.45pm

Steven Davis has once again been called up to the Northern Ireland squad for their final matches of Group C.

Northern Ireland sit fourth in their group and are unable to qualify having lost both of last month’s qualifiers away to Switzerland and Bulgaria.

They will be looking to end on a high as they host Lithuania on Friday evening, before hosting current group leaders Italy on Monday evening.

Fashion Jr – Zambia

  • Saturday 13 November - Zambia v Mauritania - WC2022 Qualifier - 1pm

  • Tuesday 16 October - Tunisia v Zambia - WC2022 Qualifier - 7pm

Fashion Jr will again be away on international duty with Zambia as they continue their World Cup qualifying campaign.

Zambia currently sit third in their group, three points behind Equatorial Guinea with Tunisia leading the way in Group B of the Africa qualifiers.

First up, Zambia will host Mauritania on Saturday, before a trip to Tunisia on Tuesday evening.

Ianis Hagi – Romania

  • Thursday 11 November - Romania v Iceland - WC2022 Qualifier - 7.45pm

  • Sunday 14 November - Liechtenstein v Romania - WC2022 Qualifier - 5pm

With Group J leaders Germany already qualified for Qatar 2022, it is an important two games for Ianis and Romania as they look to secure a second-place finish and a play-off spot.

North Macedonia and Armenia both sit just one point behind Romania heading into the final two matches of the qualifying campaign.

Romania will host Iceland, who sit fifth in Group J, on Thursday evening, before a trip to bottom of the group Lichtenstein on Sunday.

Kemar Roofe – Jamaica

  • Saturday 13 November - El Salvador v Jamaica - WC2022 Qualifier - 2am

  • Tuesday 16 November - Jamaica v USA - WC2022 Qualifier - 10pm

Having made his debut for Jamaica a few months ago, Kemar has again been called-up to the Jamaica squad as they continue their World Cup qualifying campaign.

Jamaica currently sit sixth in the table, with the top three qualifying for next year’s tournament and fourth place entering a play-off.

First up this weekend they are away to El Salvador in the early hours of Saturday morning, before hosting the USA on Tuesday evening.

Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo – Nigeria

  • Saturday 13 November - Liberia v Nigeria - WC2022 Qualifier - 4pm

  • Tuesday 16 November - Nigeria v Cape Verde - WC2022 Qualifier - 4pm

Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo have both been called-up to the Nigeria squad as they continue their World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria currently sit top of their group with three wins from four this campaign.

They travel to bottom of the group Liberia on Saturday evening, before hosting Cape Verde on Tuesday

Scotland U21 – Lewis Mayo, Ben Williamson, Kai Kennedy, Glenn Middleton, Stephen Kelly

  • Friday 12 November - Scotland v Kazakhstan - UEFA Under-21 Championship Qualifier - 7.05pm

  • Tuesday 16 November - Scotland v Belgium - UEFA Under-21 Championship Qualifier - 7.05pm

Five Rangers players have been named in the Scotland U21 squad as they continue their qualifying campaign for the 2023 UEFA Euro Under-21 Championship.

Lewis Mayo, Ben Williamson, Kai Kennedy, Glenn Middleton and Stephen Kelly are all part of Scot Gemmill’s squad as they face two home games at Tannadice.

Kazakhstan are the visitors to Scotland on Friday evening, before a difficult test against top of the table Belgium on Tuesday.

Scotland U19 – Jay Hogarth, Adam Devine, Alex Lowry, Cole McKinnon

  • Wednesday 10 November - Armenia v Scotland - UEFA Under-19 Championship Qualifier - 11am

  • Saturday 13 November - Gibraltar v Scotland - UEFA Under-19 Championship Qualifier - 11am

Four young Gers will be part of the Scotland U19 squad as they begin their qualifying campaign for the UEFA Euro Under-19 Championships.

Jay Hogarth, Adam Devine, Alex Lowry and Cole McKinnon will travel to Croatia where both qualifying matches will be played in Lucko.

They kick-off their campaign on Wednesday morning against Armenia, before facing Gibraltar at the same venue on Saturday.
