Canada: Scott Arfield
Saturday, November 16: USA 4-1 Canada – CONCACAF Nations League
Scott’s Canada fell 4-1 to the USA in the North American Nations League on Saturday, and that loss, coupled with the USA’s victory over Cuba last night consigned Canada to second place in the three-nation group. That does secure a place in the 2021 Gold Cup, but it will be the US who go forward to the semi-finals of the Nations League.
Nigeria: Joe Aribo
Wednesday, November 13: Nigeria 2-1 Benin – AFCON Qualifier
Sunday, November 17: Lesotho 2-4 Nigeria – AFCON Qualifier
Joe played in Nigeria’s two AFCON qualifiers as they got off to the perfect start with victories over Benin at home and Lesotho away. It means they sit on six points with their next matches in qualification not taking place until the first international break of next season where they will play Sierra Leone back to back.
Croatia: Borna Barisic
Saturday, November 16: Croatia 3-1 Slovakia – Euro 2020 Qualifier
Tuesday November 19: Croatia 2-1 Georgia – International Friendly
Borna claimed an assist as Croatia came from a goal down to Slovakia on Saturday to book their place at Euro 2020. He was then an unused substitute for their friendly with Georgia on Tuesday. The draw for Euro 2020 takes place on Saturday week in Bucharest, with the Croatians in Pot 2.
Northern Ireland: Steven Davis
Saturday, November 16: Northern Ireland 0-0 Netherlands – Euro 2020 Qualifier
Tuesday, November 19: Germany 6-1 Northern Ireland – Euro 2020 Qualifier
There were mixed emotions for Steven on Saturday night as he claimed the British record for the most-capped outfield player but missed a penalty as Northern Ireland were held 0-0 by The Netherlands in Belfast to end their automatic qualification hopes. Their match with Germany therefore was a dead-rubber, and, despite taking the lead, they ended up losing 6-1. They do, however, have a play-off place with the draw for that taking place on Friday.
Sweden: Filip Helander
Friday, November 15: Romania 0-2 Sweden – Euro 2020 Qualifier
Monday, November 18: Sweden 3-0 Faroe Islands – Euro 2020 Qualifier
Filip was an unused substitute for Sweden as they secured their place at Euro 2020 with victory in Romania on Friday. He followed that with 90 minutes as they finished the section with another win over the Faroe Islands. Sweden are in Pot 3.
Finland: Glen Kamara
Friday, November 15 : Finland 3-0 Liechtenstein – Euro 2020 Qualifier
Monday, November 18: Greece 2-1 Finland – Euro 2020 Qualifier
Glen was outstanding for Finland as they secured a place at their first-ever major tournament by beating Liechtenstein in Helsinki on Friday. They then faced Greece in Athens on Monday, but defeat there wasn’t to matter too much. They are in Pot 4 for next Friday’s draw.
Colombia: Alfredo Morelos
Saturday, November 16: Colombia 1-0 Peru – International Friendly
Wednesday, November 20: Ecuador 0-1 Colombia – International Friendly
Alfredo grabbed his first international goal in the closing stages of Colombia’s 1-0 win over Peru on Saturday morning. He then played the first half of their second friendly with Ecuador in New Jersey in the early hours of this morning.
Scotland: Ryan Jack
Saturday, November 16: Cyprus 1-2 Scotland – Euro 2020 Qualifier
Tuesday, November 19: Scotland 3-1 Kazakhstan – Euro 2020 Qualifier
Ryan played 180 minutes for Scotland as they defeated both Cyprus and Kazakhstan in their final two Euro 2020 qualifiers. Scotland were unable to qualify through this route, although they do have a play-off place and will find out who they will face on Friday.
Scotland: Robby McCrorie, Kieran Wright, Stephen Kelly, Glenn Middleton.
Friday, November 15: Scotland 01 Greece – UEFA Euro Under-21 Qualifier
A last-minute penalty denied Scotland under-21s as they were beaten by Greece at Tynecastle to fall to third in their qualifying group. Stephen Kelly started the match and was replaced by Glenn Middleton on 70 minutes.
Northern Ireland: Cammy Palmer
Thursday, November 14: Northern Ireland 1-1 Hungary – Friendly
Tuesday, November 19: Northern Ireland 0-0 Romania – Euro Under-21 Qualifier
Cammy came off the bench twice as Northern Ireland claimed two draws in their friendly match with Hungary and then their Euro under-21 qualifier with Romania.
