The Development squad came from behind to win 2-1 after goals from Glenn Middleton and 15-year-old Robbie Ure.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “Irrespective of the result I thought it was a really good test, a really good challenge, I thought they were very good.
“We finished the game there with a 15-year-old on the pitch in Robbie Ure and Connor Allan is 16 and Leon King 16 and we had a little bit of a depleted squad.
“We had a couple of injuries and a couple of knocks but I am really proud of the lads and the way they played the game and the way they approached it and their understanding in the second half once we tweaked things a little bit and I enjoyed every minute of it.”
Murty praised the goalscorers, and in particular Robbie Ure who came on as a second-half substitute for Josh McPake.
He added: “I thought it was the minimum we deserved, I thought some of our play in the first half was really good.
“We had a little dip after we gave the goal away but from our shape we pressed it properly John (Balde) went and pressed the ball and it was a good assist good timing of the pass and a good finish for Glenn so something for him to be happy about.
“Overall the goals were really pleasing but the method was the most pleasing of all and our players increasing understanding of what we are trying to do it was just really good see.”
