It’s the second meeting of the sides in the competition, with the Jags running out 2-0 winners in August.
Academy coach Lovenkrands says the match will be a good challenge for the Young Gers against a first-team Championship side.
Speaking to RangersTV to preview the game, he said: “We are expecting a tough game, they are a first-team and they are going want to dominate against us.
“We played them previous and we lost 2-0 in that one so we want to get a wee bit of revenge but it is going to be brilliant for the boys, they are going to come up against a tough side.
“It was obviously a lot of different players playing in that last game but it was a tough one because we actually kind of dominated the game in possession and we got done on counter and then we were going for it to try and get the next one and got done again so it was a bit of a hard one to take but it was a good learning bit for the boys.
“These type of things are what they need to get used to and learn that these things happen in football, you can’t always be dominant and win games you need to make sure that you do that all the way through.
In the new Glasgow Cup format, eight games are played in a league table between the Gers, Partick Thistle, Clyde, Queen’s Park and Celtic Colts, with the top two teams to contest the final in April.
Lovenkrands says the players are relishing the opportunity of gaining more experience against first-team sides.
He added: “It’s fantastic, look at some of the players Partick Thistle have, they’ve got Kenny Miller up front if he plays, Zak Rudden one of our former players has just signed for them as well I don’t know if he will play but that is a great test for our boys coming up against players like that.
“These are the games where they need to go and shine and show that they are ready and that they are up for the challenge and up for the physical side of it but also not forgetting about playing the way we go about the game and the way that we play so execute the game plan but be also ready for the physical side.
Fans can pay at the gate at Firhill tomorrow evening. Kick-off is 7pm and admission is £5 for adults or £2 for concessions.
