Itten Delighted To Play His Part In Killie Win

CEDRIC ITTEN was thrilled to be back in the Rangers starting eleven today and to have played his part in a hugely important win for his side at Kilmarnock's Rugby Park.

The Swiss international put in a hard-working, industrious display on his return to Steven Gerrard's team, playing alongside Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent in a three-pronged attack.

James Tavernier's penalty on 19 minutes gave the Light Blues their 11th league victory this season and Itten expressed his delight when he was interviewed for RangersTV after the final whistle.

He said: "I am very happy to win today. I think it was a tough game and it was important for us to get the three points.

"I really enjoyed it and it was really nice to play again and to get the 90 minutes. So yeah, I enjoyed the victory with the team and we are all happy. "

For sure a striker always wants to score, but I think today was really a team performance. It was important just to get the victory and we did. I'm so happy for the team and for everybody.

“It's just important to keep this level and to get the next points in the next games."

Itten, like Gerrard, praised Tavernier after he scored his tenth goal of the season this afternoon and his sixth penalty.

He added: "He's an amazing captain and he always brings a really good performance in every game. So I'm really happy for him and he really deserves this."
