The Gers are a side with momentum at their backs after a 6-3 away victory over Falkirk, themselves enjoying an impressive campaign, in their previous outing, which took their tally of goals to 14 in the last three league games.
Eight goals were plundered across wins against Aberdeen and Dundee United at Ibrox, with Rangers unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership since December.
The fans have had plenty to cheer about at the attacking end of the pitch in recent weeks, and it was evident in the aftermath of the triumph over Falkirk that the connection between players and supporters is continuing to grow.
Speaking to RangersTV ahead of the league split fixtures, Tavernier said of the fans: “They are our 12th man home and away.
“It’s going to be important that in some situations in games, some things may seem frustrating, but we need calmness and full support.
“If the boys are not at it then by all means you can vent frustration. But always give the boys some calmness and backing, and then the real performances will shine through even more.
“It’s not been the perfect season. We’ve only lost two games in the league, but we’ve drawn a lot of games.
“As a footballer that’s what you want to do, and although we think about performing well as a team, ultimately they just want to see three points.
“The boys have really grasped that, and that’s what we need to continue to do.”
Danny Röhl’s side were in Spain last week for a training camp ahead of the final five fixtures of the campaign.
It provided the squad with the opportunity to bond as a group in a different - and warmer - environment, as well as allowing the coaching staff to get some valuable information into the players.
Tavernier continued: “It’s something that we all needed. We really came together as players and staff.
“Coming out of Europe and the cup left us with a weekend free.
“You always want to be in the cup competitions, but [Röhl] looked at it and made the best situation out of what we had. All the boys appreciated it, and so did the staff.”
From an improbable position at the start of the campaign, Rangers have hauled themselves back into contention for the Scottish Premiership.
Indeed, since the defeat at Tynecastle prior to Christmas, the Gers have collected maximum points in 12 out of their last 16 league outings.
The captain has credited the poise of Röhl amid the everyday pressures of Rangers, and he admits he’s encouraged by the side’s momentum heading into the last stretch.
He added: “There have been a lot of goalscorers who have been scoring goals. We’re not just relying on one or two players; everyone is contributing.
“It’s promising for the team in this last stretch, but we can’t slow ourselves down.
“It’s not like a light switch that we can turn on during the game. We really need to push ourselves and have a really good training week, and once that first whistle goes, we need to put in a really good performance.
“It’s not going to look pretty all of the time, but we need to find a way to win games.
“We have a strong opponent in Motherwell this weekend. Our full focus is on them and how we want to play and set ourselves up. We want to put in a real performance at home in front of the fans.”
