The Gers will be on the pitch in Russell Martin’s first competitive match in charge of the club, as they entertain Panathinaikos on home soil looking to take a positive result over to Greece for next week’s second leg.
Speaking to the media for the first time this campaign as the new season gets set to commence in the second qualifying round of the European competition, he commented: “All the boys know the first thought of coming to sign for Rangers is to win games and that is the demand you have as soon as you become a Rangers player and you want to become a Rangers player.
“The boys know it is a must-win game, we obviously know it is two legs but we want to take advantage of this home leg first so we really want to put in a performance that we can be proud of and also see where we are at as a team as well.
“Pre-season? It has obviously been a quick four weeks, we are as prepared as we can be, the training has been really intense.
“The manager has really drilled in his philosophies of how he wants to play as a team, the structure.
“The boys have really taken it on board and we are really looking forward to tomorrow night.”
Having been back in training under the new Head Coach, the skipper has highlighted the early differences he has noticed in the early stages, having worked under several bosses during his 10-year spell at the club so far.
He continued: “I am always excited for every season to begin because it is always a fresh slate but I am really excited.
“The philosophy that the manager is wanting us to play with and without the ball.
“It is going to be intense and that has been shown in the pre-season that we have been doing, lots of running and the games behind closed doors.
“Just implements of how he wants us to play and you will see a bit of a difference of how we have played over the past few years to this season.
“I think you will see the way we will play, with and without the ball.
“I think that will be evident when tomorrow unfolds and as the season unfolds you'll see certainly a different style of play that we have probably not played since I have been here.
“It has been really smooth and the conversations that we have been having but you can see his mindset of what he wants and that's the bright side of it.
“What he is demanding from us a as a team and me myself and it is really exciting.”

Tomorrow night will mark the beginning of a new era at the club on the pitch, with the captain hopeful the Ibrox factor will play a part in taking an advantage to Athens next Wednesday evening.
He added: “Tomorrow night is the most important game of our season so far.
“It is first game, we have got to really take real advantage of being at Ibrox, with our fans and try to take a good result going over to play in the second leg.
“We will obviously focus on the second leg once we have finished tomorrow night but we have got to make sure we can get the job done tomorrow.
“We want a positive result just to set ourselves as a team, where we are at and to show everybody what we are capable of and what we are working too. We want to put ourselves in a good position going over there.

“We know it is going to be hot one over there in the second leg so you want to try and prioritise this first leg hopefully with a clean sheet and a few goals then you go there and you know the other team has to chase.
“Our objective is to get the win tomorrow.
“In football you will always see squad members leave and new squad members arrive.
“It is always a fresh squad going into any new season. You start again and we have got lots of change around the club from top to bottom.
“It is a fresh start for the club and I think we are all really excited to get behind it. It is a new season and we obviously want to push ourselves to get there to the very end.”
