The forward has enjoyed a fantastic career in the game lasting 19 seasons overall which saw her represent six clubs across three separate countries winning several major honours to date.
The 35-year-old has also racked up an impressive international career for her country, representing the Under-19 squad firstly in 2007 before making her senior debut in March 2009, going on to earn 151 caps, scoring 62 goals.
Growing up in the Isle of Bute, Ross began her career at youth level with Paisley Saint Ladies before making the switch to Glasgow City in 2006, winning 12 trophies in total including six league titles, three Scottish Cups and three League Cups.
During her time with City, she also helped them reach the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League and scored over 100 goals for the side.
Ross then enjoyed successful spells in both Sweden and England where she played for Vittsjio GIK for two years until 2015, before she spent time at Manchester City, West Ham United and Manchester United.
The Scotland international then made the switch back north of the border in 2021 and was part of the title winning side in her first season with the Gers. A serious knee injury then ruled her out of the entirety of the 2022/23 campaign.
After spending 518 days on the sidelines, Ross made her return in a league match against Motherwell in December 2023, scoring with her first touch after coming on.
She featured heavily in the second half of the 2023/24 campaign, scoring 13 goals in 23 appearances including a start in the Sky Sports Cup final success over Partick Thistle at Tynecastle, as the Gers went on to claim a cup double in Jo Potter’s first season in charge.
The experienced forward signed a new one-year deal with the club in the summer of 2024, featuring on 19 occasions to date, finding the back of the net 14 so far in five starts.
Helping the squad retain the Sky Sports Cup for the third year running with a substitute appearance at Fir Park against Hibs, she also played a major role in the Gers’ run to this year’s Scottish Cup final, scoring a hat-trick and assisting the other two goals in a 5-0 triumph over Aberdeen at Hampden last month.
She will now be part of the Rangers squad for the final three league games of the season before calling time on her playing career following the Scottish Cup final against Glasgow City on May 25 at the National Stadium. As the Gers look to defend the trophy they won for the first time in their history last season.

“To represent your country on over 150 occasions is a fantastic achievement and she will be regarded as one of the great ambassadors of the women’s game here in Scotland.
“She will always be welcome back at the club and we wish her all the very best for her future career in whatever she decides to go on and do.”
Speaking upon her upcoming retirement, Ross said: “I always have kind of known throughout my career that I would know when the time is right, and for me personally, it just feels like the right moment.
“I have loved my career, I have loved what I have done and it has been a dream come true to have achieved what I have, but the timing is right and I am excited for the future and what comes next.
“I think it feels right for me to be finishing my career, hopefully finishing on a treble but we will see in the coming weeks.
“I am obviously just grateful and thankful for everyone who has supported me throughout my career.
“The people know who they are, I could sit and list them all, I have met amazing people throughout as well, some who will be friends for life and worked with so many amazing people, which has been special.
“I also feel very privileged to have been able to have travelled the world and to have experienced what I have, and it is has definitely helped me grow as a person as well as a player.”
Women’s head coach, Jo Potter, commented: “It has been an absolute honour and privilege to work alongside Jane in my two seasons at the club.
“She is the model professional and a real credit to the women’s game, you can see that with how she conducts herself on a day-to-day basis here at Rangers.
It has been great to share special moments in winning three cups so far and hopefully there is more to come before she brings the curtain down on her career.
“There is still so much to achieve together yet and hopefully as a club we can give Jane the send-off she deserves. I wish her all the best in her future career and she is welcome back within the group whenever she wishes.”
