The Gers hit City for four at Broadwood, with second half goals from Lizzie Arnot, Chelsea Cornet and Mia McAulay adding to Rio Hardy’s opener from the penalty spot.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, a delighted Potter beamed: “I thought we started the game well.
“The first 30 minutes were excellent, and we came off a bit after we conceded a scrappy goal.
“I asked for a reaction in the second half and we certainly came out and done that.
“We just changed the press slightly [at half-time], tweaked a few things that helped us.
“But it was just about it being more of the same. I said to the players that we needed to keep doing what we were doing, and not allow one little moment to change the rest of our game, and we didn’t.
“The reaction to the second half from the players was excellent.
“When we came out, Lizzie scores an absolutely brilliant goal and changes the momentum. You then saw the confidence and belief of the players to kick on from there.
“The substitutes made a massive impact on the game. That’s a big thing for us now: we have a squad and it’s going to be a real squad effort for the final seven games.”
Arnot’s wonder strike from 30 yards out will invariably steal the headlines, but the second half display from the Light Blues was a result of their tireless fitness levels and the impact from the substitutes bench.
It is an aspect of her side that Potter is particular pleased with, and she believes it will be vital if Rangers are to get their just rewards this season in the league and Scottish Cup.
A midweek trip to the capital to face Hearts lies in wait for the Gers, before they square off against Partick Thistle in seven days’ time.
She added: “It’s stuff that we see day in, day out, and it’s just about playing with a confidence and belief that they are the best team out there.
“We need to start believing in that a little bit more and showing it. We score some excellent goals week in, week out, and we were unlucky to concede the goal that we did today because I didn’t think Jenna [Fife] had much threat on her goal.
“We’ve worked all season to get to this stage. It’s no coincidence because we make sure that we’re doing our work.
“You can ask the players about the graft that they’re putting in every day. We said that we were building towards something, and we’re coming towards that something stage now.
“Hopefully we see that come to fruition because I fully believe we have the best and fittest squad in the league.
“Every single game that we play from here on out will be really hard because it becomes ultra competitive. To start it off with City in a three-game week is tough, but that’s now ticked off.”
