The Light Blues got back to winning ways in the SWPL with a 1-0 win over Partick Thistle in their last outing as they now prepare for a trip on the road to take on Dundee United this Sunday.
Speaking to RangersTV ahead of the game the head coach believes the team are focusing on overcoming the challenges that they will face this season having experienced narrow victories in recent weeks and she believes they are making strides to improve on various aspects of their game.
She said: “It is a long season; the players are being introduced to a new way of playing, a new style and trying to get them into different positions and asking different things from them in those positions. It is just trying to collate them all together and getting them to knit and get them on the same page.
“That is a big thing for us right now, we have just got to understand that we have got to be patient in those moments. There will be certain aspects of it that we need to be better at, but it is going to take time for the players to gel and be on the same page on a whole picture.
“That has been a big focus for us and has been a consistency throughout the weeks, something that we have been working on week in week out, not something that changes too much.
“We know that we are going to have to break teams down and be patient within our possession phase and our build phase. That is something that we have consistently been giving the messages out to the players for. Not forcing possession and keeping the ball and being comfortable keeping it. It is something that we are getting used to and we are definitely getting better at.”
Potter is expecting a tough test as the Gers get ready for their third away outing of the campaign and she believes patience will be key once again against the side who claimed their first three points of the season last weekend.
She continued: “It is going to be tough, they are going to be confident off the back of a win last week after a tough start, as always we are looking to implement our game plan. We know that they are going to be tough to break down no matter how they play or which system that they choose to play, but that is something that we can work on.
“We have looked at it, we have assessed it, and knowing that we are going into a game where we will hopefully possess the ball a lot it is just again about being patient, try not to force the ball and taking our chances when they come.”
The former England international knows using the whole squad will be important as Rangers get set for three games in seven days, as they look to carry momentum heading into the upcoming international break.
She added: “We keep going through our processes, I keep sounding like I am saying the same things when we are playing three games a week are tough, but they are. That is just what we have got to deal with and that is what we have got to get in with.
“We don't make excuses for it, we get out on the pitch and we do our work, and we prep in the analysis suite as well, we are doing our prep. We know that Dundee are going to be a tough team to play against, coming off the back of a victory last weekend which I think will boost their confidence. It is going to be a tough game and the start of another tough week but we are ready to go.
“We have got to be able to trust our players and put them out on the pitch and give them some game time too. There is elements of consistency and still I need to get these players in their units to get used to each other, playing together in different ways and getting used to personnel next to each other and forming relationships out on that pitch. It is really important that we keep players fresh and get them through a three-game week.”
