Jo Potter Praises Devlin's Winning Mentality

JO POTTER believes she is bringing a ‘winner’ into her Rangers squad after completing the signing of Charlie Devlin.

The midfielder became the boss’ sixth signing of the summer transfer window after joining on a season-long loan from Birmingham City on Thursday.

Speaking to the official Rangers website ahead of her side’s return to SWPL action against Spartans later this afternoon, she commented: “She is a winner, you see it in everything and part of training, she wants to win.

“She wants to win the small things the one v ones, she wants to win the small-sided games, a possession drill, a technical drill she has got that about her.

“I think that is important that we have that mentality in this group because we do have it, we need to bring it out a little bit more and she will definitely add to that and make us a little bit better with it.

“I am really happy to bring Charlie in, I have worked with her before and I know her capabilities.

“She’s a great character first and foremost, I think it is really important that we stress that we are bringing good people into this group, to fit in well, to add to the group and bring something to them both on and off the pitch.

“On the pitch she is great, she is a definite dribbler, she wants to get at people and she's got a lot of creativity, you will see that in the games that she'll play in she will bring a different dynamic to us in that role. I am really looking forward to getting her in and getting her going.”

Potter has provided a squad update on the fitness of several of her players as they prepare to turn their attentions back to domestic action in what has been a flawless start to the league season.

She continued: “We have had two pretty significant injuries, one Chelsea Cornet has had a pretty bad one, she is going to be out for the foreseeable, for at least the next couple of months, fortunately she doesn't need an operation so it is just conservative at the moment.

“Knowing Chelsea she is a good healer and she will be looking to shave a few weeks off that time so we will keep an eye on that one.

“Kirsty Maclean is going to be out for another maybe three to four weeks, she had a quad injury just before Champions League which has kept her out for a while.

“We have had obviously not too good ones with Chelsea and Kirsty but we have got a good couple of ones coming back in on the other side of it with Jane Ross and Megan Bell.

“We have actually had Jane back in training with us, she has completed a full training session on Friday. She is there and thereabouts; she will be back in the next week or two in the squads you will see that.

“Megan is not far off either and is back training with the team next week.

“Sarah Ewens isn't quite there yet; I think she might have just started getting our boots on and back running, she is still a good while off.”
