The Light Blues make their return from the winter break this weekend as they make the long trip to take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup.
Speaking to RangersTV in the build-up as they prepare to face the SWF Championship side the head coach wants the team to keep improving as they enter the cup at the third round stage.
She commented: “You don't want to get too far ahead sometimes. It is difficult not too when you are sat in the position that we are in.
“It is a really good learning curve for us to take some pressure, and to sit at the top of that table and be proud of where we are at. Know that the work that we have put in and the hard work that we have done day in day out has gone towards that.
“It is very much deserved. We need to be proud of where we are at but we know that we are nowhere near done yet and we really want to kick on. We really want to keep improving and giving good performances week in week out.”
The former Lioness has praised the squad for hitting the ground running on the training pitch straight away this week as they get ready to return to domestic exploits in what is set to be a big month for the Gers across three different competitions.
She continued: “They have come back in training this week and I expected the standard to be potentially get us going a little bit slower than what it has been but is has been great.
“It is good for me to see that you can see that they have put the work in. They have gone away and done their programmes over Christmas and you can tell that within training.
“The competitive levels are always there because we have got a great squad. I have no doubt that is going to continue and hopefully we just keep improving.”
Potter is set to take charge of the side in the Scottish Cup for the first time since she took charge as they take on the highland side two divisions below them but feels they must treat the match like any other when they make the trip north this Sunday afternoon.
She added: “We do that week in week out anyway. We sometimes spend a little bit more time on the opposition depending on who we are playing and what we need to tweak and change slightly.
“We don't know too much about Inverness, so it is difficult for us to really have a look at them, so it can be an unknown quantity a little bit.
“It is a really good chance for us to focus on ourselves and our own details this week and just getting back into the swing of things and making sure that we try to get back to the top standards that we have set.
“It is really exciting. I think it is always good to have a different objective to look forward too. We know that you can draw anyone in these cups.
“It is a good test for us to go and play against a team that we don't really know too much about. It is a good chance for us to get back into the swing of things after Christmas and hopefully go up there and get the job done and come away into the next round.”

Entry to the match is via cash only donation at each turnstile entry point. Supporters will enter via North Turnstiles 13 & 14 and South Turnstiles 7 & 8 . Accessible entrance available at all entry points, adjacent to each turnstile.
Seating is unsegregated and available in the Main Stand Only . Turnstiles will be open from 12.15pm .
The North and South Car Park is available for parking for supporters. Parking is free.
Food Kiosks will be open in the Main Stand North and South (Sport Bar) Concourses – kiosks will be open from 12.15pm . Payments can be made using either Cash or Card.
