The versatile midfielder has been an ever-present in the side under Leanne Crichton, featuring in 15 outings so far as she enjoys a prolonged run in the side.
Amidst a summer of change with several new players and youngsters being integrated in the ranks, the youngster says she is trying to take her leadership qualities onto the pitch and help when she can, even at her young age.
Speaking to the official club website ahead of the team’s final home outing of 2025, she said: “That is something that I have always tried to carry, is having that leadership.
“I have had the opportunity to do it with the national team, and it would be a dream to do it here one day.
“I just want to focus on my performances and bring what I can bring to the team.
“Trying to influence and try to help the team as much as possible in whatever way I can.
“Captaining Scotland recently? It is always an honour to represent your country.
“I love going away, I love meeting up with the team, to wear the armband, it is really special.
“It was a short camp, but it was a really good, challenging game against Belgium.
“Hopefully, there are many more opportunities, and I just need to keep working hard here and focusing on my performances week in week out.
“I have had really good conversations with Leanne [Crichton] ever since she has come in.
“She has given me the opportunity that I needed to stay in the midfield and play and try to focus on that specific role rather than trying to think about other things to do in other positions and when I could be playing.
“To have one solid role and just to try to bring what I can bring to the team and give the best that I can in that certain role has been really beneficial for me.
“I just feel like I am loving football at the minute.
“Playing helps with that, just trying to breed confidence in me, but to try and give that confidence to the other players as well that we are good enough, and that can hopefully achieve good things this year.”
A product of the club’s academy system and having over 100 appearances in blue to her name, the 20-year-old says its great to see the impact the club’s youth players are still having on the team, with the likes of Saoirse Coyle Morrow, Erin O’Brien and Phoebe O’Donnell all making their debuts recently.
She continued: “It is really nice to see that the academy are still working hard. Me coming through that system as I have, along with many other girls that are here and some that have also left as well.
“It is important that we try to keep continuing that. I think the girls who have come up have really helped and influenced the group.
“When you see them coming on the park and doing so well, with Saoirse [Coyle Morrow] scoring against Renfrew as well.
“It is really good, and when they come up to training, they don't look out of place at all, and they are really adding to the group, so it is good to see.”
The Light Blues are on home soil for the final time this year on Sunday as they host Partick Thistle at Broadwood, with McLeary highlighting the importance of taking six points from the final two outings heading into the winter break.
She added: “That is really our focus is to go into these two games and get maximum points out of it.
“It is two tough games, we have played Partick Thistle recently, and they have made it really difficult for us, and then to go to Aberdeen the following week will be difficult, but our sole focus is on Thistle and how we can hurt them.
“Training has been really good, so it's just hopefully continuing what we have done.
“We have been working really hard over the last couple of weeks to refine and to try to tweak some little things that we have maybe not been doing so well.
“Hopefully, come Sunday, we can get the three points.
“There are a lot of games that are important right at the start of January.
“When we go away, it is about working hard but also enjoying some time off because it is not common that we get that much.
“To enjoy a couple of weeks off with family and friends, for some of the girls to go home and enjoy their time, but also work hard and come back that we know that we are ready to fight on all fronts.”
