The 19-year-old came off the bench to help Jo Potter’s side set up a Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup final against Glasgow City after defeating Aberdeen 5-0 on Sunday.
McLeary knows it wasn’t the perfect performance, however she says reaching the final was the No1 target. Now she is determined to help the squad retain their trophy at Hampden next month as they look to secure a domestic clean sweep.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV, she said: “Only being 19, I didn’t expect 100 appearances to come so soon for me.
“I don’t think it was the performance we needed off the back of the result against Hibs, but the main thing is getting through to the final.
“It is our trophy, and we want to retain it and in the end it was a good victory over an Aberdeen team who have proved they are a good side.
“We can build on this. In the Cup, winning is the main thing.
“We wanted a performance as well, and I don’t think it was there, but when you aren’t performing you have to grind out results, get clean sheets and score goals, and we did that.”
Jane Ross helped herself to a hat-trick plus two assists with Rio Hardy and Lizzie Arnot completing the comfortable victory.
McLeary was delighted to see Scotland international Ross grabbing the opportunity to start in attack as gaffer Potter rotated her squad.
The Cup win was the first match of a three-game week with Glasgow City coming to Ibrox on Wednesday night, before meeting Motherwell at Broadwood on Sunday.
McLeary knows everyone will be needed to play their part as the squad look to end the season on a high, but she hopes the supporters also do theirs by coming out to help get them over the line.
She added: “We have a really big push on now until the last day of the season and everyone will be valuable.
“The quality we have is there and we all know we have a part to play.
“Jane is a true professional and she shows her quality day in and day out. She is first in and last out, she looks after her body and when she got her opportunity she took it.
“We have Glasgow City at Ibrox on Wednesday and we have played there a few times this season.
“It is something we enjoy and we have had some good results there.
“We know they are a tough opponent, but playing at Ibrox is special and hopefully as many fans as possible will come along ahead of the big end to the season.”
