The midfielder made the permanent switch to Glasgow from Bournemouth earlier today and will get the chance to link up with Head Coach Russell Martin once again after previously working together at Southampton.
Speaking to RangersTV for the first time since his arrival, he said: “My first reaction? A yes straight away, obviously then with the manager coming in as well it made that decision a little bit easier for me.
“Working with him and knowing what type of guy he is and how he wants to do things that was an even bigger pull for me, but the club speaks for itself really.
“It doesn't take much telling to you and as soon as the interest was there it was an immediate yes from me.
“I have said it in past interviews just as a man he is one of the best I have come across.
“He is all about the players, he will also put the players first and I am sure the lads will get to know that as they get to know him a bit better.
“Tactically and things like that he is brilliant as well so I am really looking forward now to getting to work under him again.
“Yesterday was a long day, I left my house down south at half nine in the morning, didn't get to sleep until about half one the following morning.
“It was a long day but obviously delighted to finally have it done and be here.
“It feels brilliant, it has gone on a bit longer that I would have liked it too, but we have managed to get it over the line now so I am delighted.”
The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at Leeds United, part of the side that achieved promotion to the English Premier League by winning the Championship as he spoke of what he hopes he can bring to the football club.
He continued: “Probably a bit of experience, obviously I want to win so I am a winner.
“I have come here to win things and help the team progress.
“If I can bring little elements of how I like to play and what I like to do hopefully it will help the team massively.
“Bringing experience and consistency? I think it could be huge, when I went out last year they talked about their promotion from the season before and what they would like for me to bring in.
“When it gets to a certain time of the season and certain games, the knowhow of how to get things done.
“Thankfully that paid its rewards last year and hopefully I can bring that here this year.
“Leeds? It was brilliant, the season before was a bit tricky for me I didn't play as much as I would like.
“I managed to go there last year and play a lot of games and contributed a lot.
“For me personally it was brilliant and I can't speak highly enough of that club, I loved my time there.”
The new Light Blues number 6 could be involved in this weekend’s friendly against Club Brugge at Ibrox, insisting he is keen to get on the pitch and hit the ground running as quickly as possible in Glasgow.
He added: “I am buzzing, not having to wait weeks for a game is always the best way.
“Hopefully I can get involved in training as soon as possible and hopefully will be involved in that game on Sunday.

“I played in a pre-season friendly there quite a few years ago now.
“I want to say it maybe during COVID times like just as we were coming out.
“I can’t wait to get to the stadium and see what it is like when it is packed out with 50 odd thousand people there.
“Scottish football? I have watched a lot of games, obviously Rangers being Rangers you know that everyone will want to beat them.
“That is why I have come here I have come here to compete and win things.
“Ultimately it is not going to be easy, not going to roll over teams.
“Rangers being Rangers they are probably a team that everyone is going to want to beat.
“Ultimately I have come here to play football, I can't wait to get going and I am absolutely buzzing to be here.”
