The Light Blues resumed domestic duties with a last-gasp victory over Dundee at Dens Park last time out where they were forced to fight back from 3-1 down.
Speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Hibernian, the Scotland international commented: “Everyone is feeling positive. We’ve had a good few weeks off the back of the European win, the Old Firm and Dundee.
“We’re all feeling positive, but there’s that underlying thing that no-one wants to give up chances like we did the other night.
“We shouldn’t need to do as much as we did to win the game. It’s something we’ve looked at this week and everyone is on it for the weekend.
“We didn’t start the game well. We were probably too deep, and we didn’t keep the ball.
“We gave them a chance to get on top of us and didn’t have any control of the game, and that led to them getting chances and scoring.
“It’s something that can’t happen whether we’re at home or away; we can’t give teams the start that we did.
“A lot of them were basic errors, so it’s something we need to eradicate from the game.
“But as I said, we can’t let them score two goals early on and give ourselves a mountain to climb.
“You don’t want to concede goals, especially as a defender or goalkeeper, as you pride yourself on keeping the ball away from the goal.
“It’s something we need to change because it’s not been good enough.”
Barry Ferguson’s side will square off against a Hibernian side unbeaten in their last 15 league outings.
Indeed, the clash precedes a highly-anticipated UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg clash against Athletic Club at Ibrox next Thursday, but Souttar insists the side’s full focus is on tomorrow’s fixture first and foremost.
He added: “No-one has really mentioned it, and everyone has been fully focussed on the weekend.
“I think everyone is playing for their place on Thursday and everyone has to perform to do that. Everyone is fully focussed on this weekend.
“Hibs have had a really good run of form. I’ve watched quite a few of their games and they’ve looked good. It will be a tough one this weekend.”
