The young Gers left it late to secure victory at Ochilview Park as Zak Lovelace netted with virtually the last kick of the game to deliver just rewards for David McCallum’s side.
Speaking to RangersTV after the win, Yfeko reflected on a job well done: “It was a hard game to be honest. A lot of respect to Stenhousemuir as they were really good at what they brought to the match and they stuck to their gameplan. Props to Zak for his individuality at the end which won us the game.
“There were plenty of chances at both ends. We defended well, and they defended some moments well. It just came down to a piece of individual brilliance which broke the deadlock late on.
“We’re likely to get a team in a higher league in League One or the Championship in the draw which is exactly what we’re looking for. If we go and beat them then we’ll know we’re on the right track.”
Yfeko captained the team this evening and the defender has enjoyed a positive start to his campaign after featuring for the first-team across pre-season.
The 20-year-old says he has learned immensely from the step up to Michael Beale’s side, and believes his game is continuing to improve.
He added: “It gives you a little bit of a step up [being captain]. You talk and demand more from other players, so it’s a real privilege to be captain of the B team.
“Being with the first-team has taught me when to be sensible and the moments to be aggressive. Their centre forward was trying to get at me the whole game, but I just kept a level head and dealt with it as best as I could.
“He was really physical and he gave me a run for my money, so I really enjoyed it.”
