The 2007-born striker leapt from the substitutes bench in the first half to header the hosts ahead at the interval, before goals from Bailey Rice, James Graham and Tyler Pasnik put the seal on an impressive victory.
And the 16-year-old could not hide his delight after making a goalscoring contribution for David McCallum’s side this afternoon.
Speaking to RangersTV after the win, Gentles commented: “It was a really good day for me both personally and for the team. It was a good win today, so I’m happy.
“[The coaches] told me to get on as fast as I can and to enjoy myself and give the best that I could.
“I’m not sure what happened with the cross. I saw Paul [Nsio] playing it back to Cole [McKinnon] then the ball fell for me and it was a good header. I’m delighted.”
The Welsh Under-17 international has featured prominently for the Under-18s this campaign, with opportunities opening up at B Team level in recent weeks owing to injuries.
Gentles says he’s eager to seize his opportunity in the meantime and hopes that he’s able to translate his experience of playing alongside more experienced professionals to the Under-18s side this term.
He continued: “It’s good. I think injuries have helped with it, but it’s always good to get the opportunity to go and do it.
“It’s important because that’s me scored my first goal. I’m hoping that I can continue scoring and do as much as I can for the B Team and the Under-18s.”
