Alas, that is not the case. The tournament has been postponed for 12 months meaning Kamara and his compatriots will need to wait to make history until next summer, when they will line-up against Belgium, Russia and Denmark in Copenhagen and St Petersburg.
What it does, however, allow Kamara and his teammates is a full season of preparation – and that is something he is determined to make the most of while performing week-in, week-out for Rangers.
"It's massive,” he told RangersTV about the coming campaign. “I can't wait for the Euros now having missed out this year on it. I know all the boys were looking forward to it and everyone is disappointed to have not played the games this summer.
"But we have got it next year so I guess we have more time to prepare for it. It will be a massive thing [for the people of Finland].
"It is a tricky group I guess, but in a one-off tournament, anything can happen. Hopefully we can get through."
Kamara’s experiences with Rangers in the last few seasons both domestically and in Europe he feels have been massively beneficial to him when going forth to the international stage with Finland.
He reckons too his international experiences have brought him on as a player, and he added:
"Playing in front of 50,000 fans and playing in Europe has been a big bonus. When I go away at international level, it is always good as well.
"Combining the two of them has been really helpful for me."
