The 19-year-old has played three full games for the Championship side in the Betfred Cup group stages since joining on loan at the start of the month.
Kelly’s debut came during a 7-0 win over Berwick Rangers, before a midweek defeat to Livingston and a win against Falkirk on Saturday.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said:
“The first half against Livingston we were a wee bit pinned back then we changed the shape for the second half and then I thought we played really well and we probably didn’t deserve to lose the game but in terms of the performance it was good but obviously we didn’t get the result.”
Kelly is hoping he can learn from playing every week alongside experienced players.
He added: “That’s what I have come to Ayr to do so if I can try and maintain that hopefully into the season then it will help me a lot.
“I just need to build on the games I’ve had and hopefully start adding goals and assists and see how many games I can play.
“If I can come back with maybe 30 odd games it is going to make me a much better player than I am now so that is the aim.
“It will be a hard league, there are obviously a lot of big clubs who are all expecting to go up as well but we’ll just take it one game at a time and see what happens.”
