The Light Blues hit their English opposition for six at a rain-soaked Rangers Training Centre this afternoon, with Robertson gaining some of his first minutes for Gers B.
Indeed, the 18-year-old midfielder has been a regular fixture for the Under-18s in recent seasons, helping the side lift the Scottish Youth Cup at the national stadium last term.
And the teenager is now excited by the physical and mental challenge of transitioning to B Team level in the Academy.
Speaking to RangersTV after this afternoon's triumph, Robertson said: "I'm definitely looking forward to the challenge and working with David [McCallum], Malky [Thomson] and Zurab [Amirian]. They all trust in me a lot.
"I'm enjoying the jump up and the games to come.
"The coaches have been giving me tactical instructions and reinforcing the trust that they have in me on the pitch.
"It's reciprocated by me as I enjoy the training and everything that we do. It's been a really positive environment so far.
"For me, the biggest aim after last season is to stay injury free. I'm going to keep my head down, keep developing physically, and try to knock on the first-team door."
Played to three 30-minute periods, Rangers were certainly better for the experience of this afternoon's victory as they netted five times in the final hour.
Robertson may not have been among the goals, but his calmness and composure in midfield allowed the young Gers to play with freedom and create a hatful of scoring opportunities.
On today's display and his fitness levels at an early juncture in pre-season, the 18-year-old added: "I'm just getting going, but they're close to where they need to be. I feel that I'm in a good place; fit and injury free which has hindered me in the past, so I feel good.
"You definitely miss it! I'm always dying to get back in and play with my pals, so I'm buzzing to be back.
"The way that we played [today] was very pleasing and we dominated in good parts of the game. I'm pleased with my own performance as well.
"All the goals were taken well. We didn't really miss too many chances either and I thought we were ruthless."
