The midfielder had been sidelined since January after picking-up an injury while at the winter training camp in La Manga but came off the bench in Sunday’s Old Firm derby ahead of a crucial few months for Philippe Clement’s men.
Next-up for Rangers is a trip to Dens Park in the Scottish Premiership tomorrow evening, and Dowell sat down with the media this afternoon at the pre-match press conference.
He said: “It was a great game to come back into, it was really enjoyable, the atmosphere was unbelievable and probably the loudest I have heard a stadium in my career, so it was a really good one to come back into. I picked up my injury in La Manga in the winter break, it was a bit unfortunate really in the way I went over and then the recovery was pretty smooth. It went really well, and it is good to be back now. Hopefully, I can contribute more between now and the end of the season.
“The lads have done really well since I have had my recent injury so that has been good to be supporting them and we are in a good place going to the end of the season.
“You don’t realise how much you actually miss it until you are injured so I am chomping at the bit to make an impression and have a good end to the season.”
With seven games remaining in the Scottish Premiership, Dowell says it is important the squad take it one game at a time, starting with tomorrow evening’s trip to Dundee.
He continued: “We are just focusing on winning every game we can at the minute, and I think it is probably going to have to be close to that to win the league, so whether we go top or not it is a cliche, but it is game by game at the minute. It is just the way the league has run this season, we are probably going to have to get close to maximum points to win the league.
“I've seen a couple of pictures of the pitch, but it is the same for both teams. You have just got to adapt to it, we are all good players, we have played on all different kinds of pitches, and we just have to accept it.”
