KIRSTY MACLEAN has shared her pride at racking up 100 appearances for Rangers.
The youngster, who is a product of the club’s academy system, reached the landmark total in yesterday’s Old Firm derby success as the Light Blues put themselves right back in the title race with a 1-0 win at New Douglas Park.
Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on the milestone, she commented: “It is such a special moment, obviously joining the club at age nine I didn't think I would ever make 100 appearances for the first-team.
“It is a really proud moment and to have my family in the stands as well was really nice.
“You saw Jodi making it a couple of weeks ago and I am sure there will be a few more academy graduates following as well.”
The 20-year-old reflected on the performance overall in Hamilton, praising the Gers for lifting their standards when the pressure was on as they boosted their SWPL trophy hopes with victory.
She continued: “We are all really happy, we knew coming here we had to put in a performance and nothing less than three points was good enough so to come here and put in a performance like we did and get the three points we are really happy with it.
“We know we have had performances recently that haven't been good enough, but we raised the standard.
“Clean sheets are something we have tried to pride ourselves on all season.
“We know how important they can become by the end of the season. It is really important to keep a clean sheet and Kirsty did well to finish it off as well.”
The Scotland international highlighted the depth of the squad in the success, with Tessel Middag coming into the side and providing the match-winning assist. As the Gers now prepare for a quick turnaround when they head to the capital for their penultimate league outing on Wednesday evening.
She added: “I think that always gives us confidence when we get a good start.
“We had players come into the team, Tess she got the assist and that just shows the squad depth we have got. I was really happy for her coming in and getting that assist.
“We just need to take confidence from it.
“Hearts have had a great season and we know what a strong team they are. We need to go in on Tuesday and do our analysis on them and hopefully we can go in Wednesday and get three points again.”
