A hat-trick from captain Clare Gemmell was accompanied by goals from Chantelle Brown, Katey Turner and Chelsie Watson as the Light Blue recorded the emphatic victory.
Rangers applied pressure straight from the first whistle and won corner in the first minute of the match. Katey Turner fired the ball into the box and Lisa Swanson headed it towards goal but the Aberdeen goalkeeper held it safely.
Aberdeen switched the ball up the other end of the park straight away and won several consecutive corners.
It was just under the ten minute mark when the deadlock was broken. The ball fell to Gemmell 25 yards out and the midfielder struck it sweetly and planted it into the bottom corner.
The rest of the first half was a midfield battle with countless throw ins to both sides. 20 minutes in Rangers were awarded two free kicks in quick concession and Chelsie Watson stood over both. On both occasions, the ball was floated in and cleared by Aberdeen but it was an omen of what was to come.
With 40 minutes played, Rangers were awarded a free kick after Claire Adams had been fouled. Watson once again stood over it but decided to take a more direct route, launching the ball into the bottom corner and making it 2-0 to Rangers.
The second half started much like the first as Rangers pressed instantly, but this time they were more clinical, scoring within minutes of the restart.
Watson picked the ball up on the right wing and made a driving run forward. She fired the ball over the defence and it was picked out my Brown who slipped by the Aberdeen defence and stroked the ball into the back of the net.
With barely any time to think, Rangers had scored again. After winning a corner from the restart, Turner crossed the ball into the area. Dawson jumped to catch the cross but missed and Gemmell was waiting at the back to head home to make it 4-0.
The Light Blues looked sure to add to their tally as Brown squared the ball perfectly for Vicki Bruce but the American’s shot was just high of the target.
The Gers did make it 5-0 with just under an hour on the clock. Another driving run from Brown up the wing allowed her to fire the ball across the face of goal where Katey Turner was waiting. Turner through herself at the ball, ensuring it was goal bound.
With ten minutes left to play, Rachael O’Neill replaced Claire Adams as she returned from a lengthy spell on the side-lines.
It was just after the change that the sixth and final goal was scored. Gemmell making her presence known in the box once more as she completed her hat trick to round of a great team performance and making it Aberdeen 0 – 6 Rangers.
