Latest Rangers Loan Review

RANGERS have a number of players out on loan across the Men's, Women’s and Academy sides at present and here’s our review of how each of those in action fared over the weekend.

Findlay Curtis – Winger – Kilmarnock

Findlay made his debut for Kilmarnock in their 3-0 victory over Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon.

The winger, who featured for Rangers in UEFA Europa League action two days prior in Porto, played the final 27 minutes in the win.

Lyall Cameron – Midfielder – Aberdeen

Lyall started for Aberdeen in the losing effort in Ayrshire.

It was a third appearance for the midfielder who joined the north-east outfit on loan for the remainder of the season last month.

Ross McCausland – Winger – Aris Limassol

Ross started and played 74 minutes for Aris Limassol as they fell to defeat against AEL Limassol.

His appearance marked a 20th of the campaign for the Northern Irishman in Cyprus.

Oscar Cortes – Winger – CA Huracan

Oscar registered his first assist for CA Huracan in midweek before featuring in the 1-1 draw with Club Atlético Tucumán on Sunday.

The Colombian has started all three games for the club since arriving on loan.

Ben Davies – Defender – Oxford United

Ben started and played the full 90 minutes for Oxford as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Birmingham City.

It was a second successive league start for the defender who was facing the side he spent time with on loan last season.

Leon King – Defender – Ayr United

Leon started for Ayr as they produced a pivotal 2-1 win over Raith Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

The defender played the full 90 minutes, his 20th appearance of the campaign, as the Honest Men boosted their play-off hopes with three points.

Paul Nsio – Midfielder – Raith Rovers

Paul featured twice for Raith over the last week and scored in their KDM Evolution Trophy victory over Queen’s Park.

The midfielder opened the scoring in the penalty shootout win over the Spiders in Glasgow last midweek to book his side’s place in the semi-finals.

Jack Wyllie – Defender – Kelty Hearts

Jack was an unused substitute for Kelty as they played out a goalless draw with Hamiton Academical.

It came after the defender played 90 minutes for Rangers Under-19s in their 1-1 draw with Hearts last midweek.

Josh Gentles – Forward – Alloa Athletic

Josh was on the scoresheet for Alloa in their 2-2 draw with Cove Rangers at home.

The young forward broke the deadlock in the contest with a fine finish, skipping inside his marker before planting his effort into the bottom corner from distance.

Lewis Stewart – Winger – Alloa Athletic

Lewis assisted his Rangers teammate in Saturday’s 2-2 draw.

He found Gentles with a direct pass out to his left and was unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet later in the game as the Wasps were forced to settle for a point.

Zander Hutton – Defender – Hamilton Academical

Zander started for Hamilton in their goalless draw away to Kelty Hearts.

The point extended Accies’ unbeaten run to three games, with Zander continuing to play a key role in their campaign.

Arran Kerr – Defender – Stirling Albion

After featuring on the substitutes bench for the Gers first-team in their UEFA Europa League clash against Porto, Arran started for Stirling Albion in their 1-1 draw with Stranraer two days later.

The Binos took the lead in the game before being pegged back in the second half.

Connor Campbell – Defender – Stirling Albion

Connor, similarly, started for Stirling Albion in defence in the draw.

The defender has been deployed in a variety of positions for the League Two side and has established himself in the starting lineup in recent weeks.

Alfie started between the posts for Albion Rovers in their Lowland League Cup defeat to Cumbernauld Colts.

The side fell to a 1-0 reverse at Broadwood Stadium as their cup campaign came to an end.

Blaine McClure – Midfielder – Nottingham Forest Under-21s

Blaine started for Nottingham Forest as they played out a goalless draw with Derby County Under-21s in Premier League 2.

The midfielder played the full 90 minutes for his side as they earned what they hope will be a valuable point come the end of the season.

Lucy Livie – Winger- Boroughmuir Thistle

Lucy was introduced off the substitutes bench as Gartcairn fell to a slender 1-0 defeat to Queen’s Park in SPWPL 2 at the weekend.

They do have a quick opportunity to bounce back however, as they are in midweek action against Gartcairn tomorrow evening.

Natalie Bandura – Striker – Spartans

It was a positive afternoon for Natalie and Spartans as they claimed three points in Scotland’s second tier by overcoming Gartcairn 2-0 at Ainslie Park.

The striker was back in the lineup and made a positive impact, scoring the vital opening goal as her team took home all three points in the capital.

CaCee McKenna – Defender – Spartans

CaCee likewise, was also in the XI from the off as she started her first game of the year for the capital club.

Having been in and out the side during the first half of the season she will be hopeful of a run of games having helped the team keep a clean sheet in the weekend’s win.

Sophie Rutherford – Winger- Queen’s Park

Sophie was on the winning side for the clash at Meadowbank as Queen’s Park claimed all three points with the win over Boroughmuir Thistle.

The winger has been consistently involved in the Spiders’ outings this season, now racking up 20 appearances, as they target promotion back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

Rebecca Simpson – Defender – Gartcairn

Rebecca was in the Gartcairn starting side once again as they fell to the two-goal defeat to Spartans in the capital.

It was been a productive time with the Airdrie club for the youngster however, as she opened her account for the club last weekend.

Alba Stewart – Midfielder- Gartcairn

Alba was recalled to the starting side for the clash that saw Graeme Hart’s side fall to the defeat.

They have the chance to bounce back tomorrow evening, as they look claim their way up the table currently occupying sixth in the standings.
