The Light Blues Head Coach has helped guide the Gers to the last two in the Sky Sports Cup, taking place at Fir Park this Sunday, as the Gers attempt to retain the trophy and claim a record-equalling fourth success in a row.
Speaking to RangersTV at the home of Motherwell ahead of the weekend’s showdown, she said: “My first final in charge? I am looking forward to it if that means anything.
“I have probably not thought too much about it in all honesty. You know what it is like, you get caught up in the job and the next game, coming off the back of what has been a tough run, but really positive result on Sunday.
“When I look back at moments over my career, you can let this part of the experience get away from you.
“Not to take any shine off of what Sunday will be, but I want myself and the group to kind of live in this moment, enjoy the preparation so we are thoroughly excited and looking forward to it.
“My final message to the group? I don't know, because I kind of just go with the flow, I go with the feeling of the day.
“I don't ever prepare a pre-game chat or moments; I try to work my way through the week and what we have taken from it, how I think it has gone, what I think is missing.
“Come game day, when I look around the dressing room, I look into the eyes of individuals, and I get a feel for where the players are at within the warm-up.
“There are bits that I try and use and lean on my own experiences and look to that. I never prethink, I think you have got to live and take from the day and get a recognition of what we need in that moment.
“For us, we really need to go and grasp the opportunity because we know how important that first piece of silverware of the season can be.
“I think it can be a real catalyst, as you have seen in seasons gone by, this club have had huge success in cup competitions of late, and it is up to us to go and try to keep that run going.”
Rangers brought an end to their final opponents’ unbeaten league run at the weekend with a 1-0 SPWPL win at Broadwood. The Scotland international feels the team can take confidence from that success to try to come out on top in their second meeting with Glasgow City in a week.
She continued: “I think it will have a psychological impact on us. I don't think it will have an impact on the game, because I think the cup final will be completely different.
“A different venue, surface, environment, two teams that know each other really well.
“Probably two similar teams when you look at the league, and certainly the top-six teams, we are probably the two that are most similar in terms of our style.
“I don't know how much of an impact that will have, but I know for us and the result and what it meant to keep on the coattails of Glasgow City, who have been fantastic this season, the most consistent team, leading the pack for a real long time now, it was important that we could get that result.
“Obviously, they were unbeaten as well, so I think that type of impact and type of result probably sent a message just to everybody that we are here and we are not going away.
“Ultimately, that is a league game, so we park that now and the focus is the cup, but I don't think that result will impact it too much if I am honest.”
Crichton has spoken of the mixture of experience and youth she has inside the dressing room with several Rangers stars part of the cup-winning squads of recent seasons, as she urged fans to make their way along to the showpiece matchup to cheer the Gers on to try to claim the first piece of silverware on offer this campaign.
She added: “There are a lot of players who have won it before, but there are also a lot of players who haven't.
“I think there is a different blend to the group. The reality is the group will be judged on previous years and teams gone by, but I think this group this season are quite different.
“Quite unique in the sense that the age of the squad is a lot younger than it has been in those seasons when you speak about that type of success.
“I think that will be the pressure for them, to go and handle the moment.
“I think young players play with that bravery and freedom, and they don't think about what comes next.
“The senior pros that have been there and over the course understand the feat as well as the success.
“It is about time for them to try to balance the group this week, along with myself and the coaching staff, we will try to lean on every part of the dressing room.
“We have got a real good blend and different mix of players with different experiences over their career, so we will look to try to use that as much as we can this week as we prepare.
“Get behind us, we are desperate for the fans to come and support the group.
“We have loved it this season. In certain games, they have come out in numbers, and the players thrive in that moment.
“There is nothing better than coming out here on Sunday with the stands packed and it being your fans that are with you.
“Being that extra player when we need it, my message to them would be come out, certainly enjoy the weekend.
“We always say it’s a men's international, there is no clash in fixtures, there are no excuses not to get behind the team, and I know how much I would value that, the staff would value and certainly the players, because it's all about them.”
