Leitch, a boyhood Rangers supporter, is the architect responsible for the design of Ibrox Park, among several other famous stadiums across the UK, before he returned to Rangers in 1929 to erect the famous South Stand, now named after the legendary Bill Struth.
The architect’s work was chronicled by historian Simon Inglis, who the club were delighted to invite along to the launch of the Rangers Museum alongside Leitch’s great grandson, David Easton, and his great great grandson, Sam Easton.
The long-lost model of the South Stand at Ibrox was recovered in 2019, which is believed to be the only model from Leitch’s architectural exploits known to have survived the passing of time.
However, the model now sits proudly inside the newly opened museum at Edmiston House, including correspondence between the club and Leitch from the early 1900s.
