Lily Boyce Ready For The Season Ahead

LILY Boyce says Rangers are ready for their league season to begin this Sunday.

The Light Blues have had a mixture of testing pre-season friendlies before being in competitive action in the form of Champions League qualifying over the past 10 days to prepare themselves for the SPWPL returning.

Speaking to RangersTV at the league launch event earlier this week, the youngster has shared her excitement for the new campaign getting underway. She said: “I am very excited; I think we have had a very good pre-season.

“Got lots of minutes under our belt and obviously we have had two competitive games in the Champions League, so I think we are more than ready and I am really looking forward to the league starting this weekend.

“You could see that in the two Champions League games, and the other pre-season friendlies we have had have been a really good test, and I think we are more than ready and feel very prepared.

“New signings? I think they have settled in very well. Even in training they are applying what they can do and they bring something different to players we have had before.

“They have settled in very well, and they are going to be a vital part this season in our team.”

The youngster reflected on the opportunity to run out against top European opposition in the form of SK Slavia Praha and Ajax, in which they agonisingly lost out in the final, having overcome the Czech outfit 2-1 in the last four clash in the European mini-tournament.

She continued: “For me personally it was a really great experience, making my Champions League debut.

“It was a great moment for me and my family, and obviously I thank Leanne for putting her trust in me to get some valuable minutes and play against top European players.

“It was a great experience, and I was very happy to be a part of that.”

A trip to Links Park awaits Leanne Crichton’s team this Sunday, with Boyce hoping it’s the start of a successful season for the club.

She added: “Montrose are a good side; I have played against them a number of times and we have to be ready for that.

“We were disappointed last season; we came so close to silverware, but I think we are more than ready this season to achieve that, and obviously that is our main aim being at Rangers is to win trophies so hopefully we can achieve that this season.”

You can be there to back the Gers this Sunday as they get their campaign underway here, kicking off at 13:00 in Montrose.
