Lizzie Arnot Pleased To Make Her Return From Injury

WINGER Lizzie Arnot says it was pleasing to make her return to action following her cameo from the substitutes bench in the recent Old Firm victory.

The 27-year-old made her first appearance of the campaign in the 2-1 win over their rivals as she assisted the winning goal to send Rangers to the top of the SWPL table.

Speaking in the aftermath of the fixture the attacker said it was a long time coming stepping back out for the Light Blues once again and was happy to play her part in their derby success.

She said: “It was really good, obviously to be part of the squad that day was pleasing for me just after my time out with injury.

“To get on the pitch was a big bonus and to contribute to the win was great and credit to the girls. They performed from minute one so it was a really good day.

“It had been a while coming. It is one of them that you just try not to think too much about but once I was on the pitch it just felt like I had never been away. It is nice to be involved in contributing to the team.”

“Going into the international break it gave everyone a lift. Every game that you win is good but especially against your biggest rivals.

“It gives everyone a lift and I think the mood in camp will be good when we get everyone back together as well.”

Arnot says it was a difficult time having to watch from the sidelines but states she is now fully enjoying working under head coach Jo Potter after making a full return to fitness in recent weeks.

She continued: “It was hard because obviously I didn't really expect that I was going to need an operation and stuff.

“It did come quite as a shock for me, but I had been through my ACL rehab before, so I knew this was going to be nothing like that.

“I was just focusing on taking each session and trying to improve each day. I knew that if I could put all the work in the time would come and hopefully would see the benefits on the pitch.

“It has been really good, I had only had a few sessions before I got injured, but even then I could tell it was a breath of fresh air.

“Coming back now it has personally given me a buzz just to get back enjoying football and having Jo as a coach the whole group has adapted well and you can see that tactically we have improved in the squad. As a group we can just keep going further.”
