The young Gers ended a four-game winless run with a positive victory and performance, with Alex Lowry netting an impressive hat-trick on the evening.
Speaking to RangersTV after the triumph, Lyall reflected on a much-needed victory: “I thought we played very well, it’s a strong three points. To go four games without victory, it’s important to get a win no matter how the performance was. However, the performance was good to back that up so everyone is happy.
“We’ve not won in four games and tonight is very good in terms of getting another win under our belt. It’s majorly important [that we build on the win now], just keeping that momentum going and just rolling into every game with that momentum is very, very important for all the boys.”
There were certainly challenges thrown in Rangers’ direction in the game, with the team forced to play with ten men for the majority of the match amid howling rain and wind in Dumbarton.
Lyall continued: “We back ourselves technically so it doesn’t really matter if we go down to ten men. In our minds, we just back ourselves and play the way that we play and we done that. I thought we controlled most of the game.
“We’re all fit boys so we can get about the pitch. It’s not exactly easy but we can do it. To go down to ten men, it’s obviously hard but we can get that done. On the conditions, sometimes you just have to change up how you play and win in a different way and I thought we done that very well tonight.”
