The Light Blues will be hoping for a similar performance and outcome against the Italian side to the 3-2 victory at Firhill against the same opponents in the reverse fixture last month.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV ahead of the match, MacKinnon insists the team are excited for the challenge: “I suppose you’re buzzing. The last time we played them, we won 3-2, we can take a lot of positives from that game. We’ve done our analysis on them.
“We were very good in the first half. We had a very good start in the first 30 minutes. In the second half we were a bit sloppy, we conceded the two goals. We’ve looked at that and now we can’t wait for the game.”
The conditions in Naples will provide a different challenge for the Young Gers – in a squad that includes players born between 2003 and 2007 - but MacKinnon insists that the busy schedule of games will stand his side in good stead.
He continued: “The pitch is good. We’ve had a session where we were doing boxes and possession so we’re ready.
“It’s making us stronger having two games per week. It’s what every player wants. We’re just taking it in our stride.
“It’s brilliant [to see younger boys make the step up]. You get opportunities like this when boys step up to the first team. It gives those guys opportunities. It’s a good experience for them and they’ll be buzzing for it.”
