Malky Thomson Frustrated At Old Firm Clash

MALKY THOMSON shared his frustration as two goals conceded from set-pieces saw Rangers defeated in the final Old Firm derby of the season.

The Gers boss rued missed chances at the other end in the 2-1 defeat at Rangers Training Centre.

Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “I am absolutely gobsmacked that we lost that game however we didn’t defend properly at set-pieces.

“We had the majority of the play and I thought we were in total control. I thought the commitment from the players was great but again we have not managed to secure the three points.

“In the first-half arguably we had two opportunities we could've scored from so I suppose again it goes back to when we played Celtic before if we don't take our chances at one end then we don't take care of set-pieces.

“It is really disappointing that we don't actually get carved open in general play at all and we lose the goals in the manner that we lose the goals so it is gutting.

Thomson says his side will learn from the game going forward as they pick themselves up ahead of Forfar on Wednesday evening.

He added: “The style of play was evident there, the performance level was there but we have got to finish our chances when we have so much of the ball and to lose the two set pieces is catastrophic for us.

“It's our job we just get on with it, we will come back in and we will go and take care of those games and finish the season properly.”
