Malky Thomson Immensely Proud Of Squad

MALKY THOMSON felt ‘immensely proud’ to see his squad beat Aberdeen 4-0 in an historic match at Ibrox Stadium this afternoon.

The Gers boss believes they controlled the match as goals from Sam Kerr, Kayla McCoy, Nicola Docherty and Lizzie Arnot secured another important three points in the league.

Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, a delighted Thomson said: “I am immensely proud of the squad getting to play at Ibrox and the girls they turned up, it was a great scoreline and I think they controlled the game from start to finish. It was great that we managed to get a lot of the players some minutes off the bench as well.

“They retained the ball really well, I think we are now at the stage where we are actually putting the demand on each other individually and putting a demand on ourselves to get to the next level.

“There were wee bits today that went a bit slack and we will analyse it but it is about every day trying to get better and better.

“We are vastly experienced at the back, they know when to go tight and they know when to defend space they have good communication and today I thought the back four really held their own and managed to build play further through the team.”

Thomson ended with a word for the Rangers fans as an attendance of 4,421 turned out at Ibrox to support the squad.

He said: “It was such a joy to see the turnout and the singing, from the first whistle they sang their hearts out and I know the girls were absolutely delighted about having that support so it definitely helps you.”
