MALKY THOMSON felt his side gave their all as Rangers lost out 1-0 in this evening’s Old Firm derby.
Despite dominating large spells of the game at Parkhead and hitting the woodwork twice in the second-half, an 80th minute Celtic goal saw the hosts take the points.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “We are disappointed we never took something from the game especially with the amount of chances that we created and the effort and application that the girls put in.
“I thought we played well but if you don't take your chances then you are always vulnerable at the other end.
“We will not get despondent at all, we spoke after the game and they know that they left everything on the pitch they gave their all in the game which was pleasing. We stuck to our game plan, we played well and I thought we dictated and weren't in any difficulty at all but that's football.
“With 10 minutes to go you lose the goal and then you are trying to chase things.
“To be fair everything was working prior to losing the goal we were still confident and I thought we started the second half really well.”
Thomson provided an update on striker Kirsty Howat who had to be taken off on a stretcher with just 10 minutes of the match played, he explained: “We will first and foremost get the swelling down, the medical team were great, she has had instant treatment, we'll get a scan and assess that when it comes.”
Looking ahead to Sunday’s match against Forfar, Thomson says the players’ focus will stay the same as they prepare for the next challenge.
He added: “In the dressing room they are absolutely gutted but again it is part of their learning and part of their development and I'm sure we will get a positive response from them when they come back into training tomorrow morning and we will get ready for the next game.
“We'll go about it the same way, nothing will change, we will turn up tomorrow, we will recover and then we will prepare Saturday morning and be ready for Sunday.”
