With the league currently suspended the Gers boss has been using time to look back on the opening fixtures and believes he has seen development in his squad over that time.
Speaking to RangersTV he said: “I think looking back in reflection we are very proud of how the players have competed and the different challenges they have faced.
“They definitely developed when we first started out, it is obviously the first season since becoming professional.
“The players had to get to grips with the routines and the daily training and what was expected from being professional.
“It allowed them to find their feet along with the staff. All the staff were put together and are a young group so I am really really pleased with how it has gone so far.
“We look at all aspects of how we have played, we have got time on our hands where we can sit down and reflect on our thoughts and what the way forward will be for us as coaching staff and for the players.
“We then look at how we are going to implement the findings of that into our training when we do eventually come back.”
With the addition of Rachel McLauchlan, Sam Kerr, Kirsty Howat and Chantelle Swaby, Thomson says the whole squad will be vital this season.
McLauchlan, Kerr and Howat all featured as trialists before the winter break.
He continued: “I think the progression was good and the timing was quite good when they came into the squad because it gave another energy to the squad. Not only are they quality players but we brought in some really hungry players that want to compete.
“Chantelle really fits the profile of the club and what we are after. Position-wise she can play a number of positions not just centre-back and she has great experience from the World Cup so she will be a great addition.
“We are still looking for that acceptance of it as a squad game. They all know what is expected of them, they have got to train and they have got to prepare properly and the team will be picked to go and try to win that game.”
