The Light Blues hosted the Dutch U19 side at the Falkirk Stadium as they played out a 1-1 draw, with Archie Stevens finding the target for Rangers.
Speaking to RangersTV after the match, Thomson said: “It was a great experience for us, we knew it was going to be a test and we used a lot of the younger professionals in the building, certainly in the latter stages of the game.
“They see the level of football there, that when you do get chances you have got to convert them. There weren’t a lot of chances in the game and the chances that were created culminated in two good goals from both sides.”
Going behind early in the second-half, Thomson was pleased with how Rangers responded, he continued: “They are a resilient group, that is one thing you can always say about the players in the building, they want to win every game, we don’t want to suffer a defeat.
“We spoke to them in the first-half that when we do get chances we have got to convert them. At the start of the game, we were dominant, we have got to try and take our chances then, but we stood up to the test and came back and equalised.”
With several changes in the second-half, Connor Campbell and Jack Wylie replaced Kristain Webster and Leyton Grant at the centre of defence and Thomson thought they dealt with the challenge well.
He added: “Webby and Leyton have got a bit of experience now, but Connor went on with Jack Wylie and they had to see the game out.
“It is always harder for the younger guys, but I think they’ll understand come time that a lot of responsibility was put on their shoulders going on for the last half an hour of the game, but they dealt with it impeccably well.”
