The Gers boss could see the level of play improving throughout the game as a hat-trick from Zoe Ness and goals from Kirsten Reilly and Demi Vance sealed the win.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “I think it was an entertaining game. I think we had a lot of the ball and at times it was very difficult to break Hearts down they were very well organised.
“We started well I think there was a wee bit of nerves first game of the season and it has been a long time but they quickly got into their stride.
“We went 2-0 up and we lost the goal so it kind of took the shine off it a wee bit and then we had to get back into our stride again but they managed to do that.
“We spoke about when we first came in about getting relationships and bonding together we are starting to do that we have still got a bit to go but by in large we are really happy with it.”
Malky praised Zoe Ness, who returned from a long-term injury, to score her hat-trick.
He continued: “It was quite a significant injury that she did take but in fairness to her and the medical staff and the support she got at Rangers.
“That was one of the reasons she signed with Rangers she knew the backing she would get here and it has paid off because it has been a long hard journey for her.
“You can see she is now on a park running about so I think she is testament to any other girl that gets injured and if you want to get back to playing at that level you can.”
